What is the difference between karate and judo and do you need physical strength to participate in either?

Karate is a striking art. It normally incorporates a balance of hand techniques, foot techniques, and usually entry level grappling (Some exceptions apply of course). It%26#039;s usually 50/50 hand/foot, or it has more emphasis on handwork.

Judo is a grappling art. There are striking techniques in the kata (But none in randori [Sparring]), but it has its greatest work in standing grappling, with an emphasis on throwing. There is also a set of ground techniques, but depending on the ruleset, style, and school, that may or may not be utilized.

In either case, you don%26#039;t %26quot;Need%26quot; physical strength to participate. The training itself enhances your skills. If you want to take of weight lifting or another type of regiment, that is fine to, but there%26#039;s nothing like that required to begin at par 1.|||karate=Striking ,kicking, punching, u know the works lol

judo= Grapples, throws, hip tosses, arm bars and stuff like that

you need strength for both but more for judo unless your good and can use there weight against them
