What is the difference in Judo btw a 1st dan and 5th dan black belt?

In Judo, what is the difference btw a 1st dan and 5th dan black belt ?

Which is the more advanced level and how hardcore are we talking about for that better one out of the two?|||鈥?Promotion for Senior members, both men and women, to and within the Dan Grades up to the level of 5th Dan is based on skill in contest and on theoretical knowledge and ability to demonstrate specific techniques.

鈥?Contests will be with members of the same sex and equal grade.

鈥?From promotion from 1st Kyu to 1st Dan and above, candidates may enter a promotion examination only once in any calendar month.

鈥?Candidates are referred to the Contest Rules, as they are required to be conversant with them.|||Relating the traditional ranking system with the more well-known colored belt system:

Kyu ranks = the rainbow belts. The higher the number of Kyu, the less skilled the practicioner is.

Dan ranks = degrees of Black Belt. Higher number of Dan = more skilled.

So First Dan is someone who is a low-level Black Belt. Fifth Dan is about half-way up the Black Belt line, though how much better that is depends on the dojo. In many dojos, the difference between Third Dan and Ninth Dan can be as little as how well you brown-nose the Sensei.|||common sense tells us that 1st Dan is the first level, this where the foundations are in place for achieving higher levels.5th Dan is substantially advanced in level ,skill, knowledge and ability. It is not hardcore to treat this issue with significant respect. i know it takes a lot of blood sweat and tears to achieve anything in life /martial arts /is there a difference. i am and allways have been a martial arts nut.|||.|||thare are 10 dans when you get your 1st blackbelt that is 10th dan you can than grade to 1st dan when you get really good.

(only some martial arts have 10 dans).
