Do they teach Judo Throws in Submission Wrestling?

Do they teach some Judo throws in Submission Wrestling? Ever since i saw Judo ive been in love with it but theres no Judo gyms around me just a Submission Wrestling gym.|||Yes, of course they do.

All throws and takedowns are allowed in Submission Wrestling, as long as they don%26#039;t land on their neck/head.|||I would go with the above answer as far as depends on who is teaching.

Nearly all submission wrestling places are going to cover you basic takedowns, many submission places might spend one session a month working on takedowns assuming people have a background.

Some teachers are only going to go with the your vanilla wrestling takedowns, single leg, double leg, high crotch, trips, and picks..

A few might add some vanilla hip throw in there, or Uchi Mata.

However, the version you are going to get is far different from an actual Judo dojo. Generally to be any good at takedowns you have to spend some time developing them. Most Submission wrestling places basically focus on No Gi BJJ/Catch style stuff. Meaning lots of rolling without Gis, little stand up.

Basically it takes years to develop a good wrestling shot, and it takes years to develop good throws, then to understand them well enough to translate across the board without a Gi.

Have you tried your local YMCA? Are there any schools (universities, community colleges? Many of them offer Judo as a class, there are also intermural sports. Sometimes you have to look a little harder than just the yellow pages.

This site has a forum full of Judokas who can help find a Judo place nera you. http://www.judoinfo.com

In general you will get some takedowns, it all depends on the gym in regards to Submission Wrestling.|||Depends on the gym. There will be throws similar to what you%26#039;d find in Judo in that they will utilize arm throws, hip throws, inside trips, etc. Same stuff with different names. But I imagine the emphasis will be on basic single- and double-leg takedowns.|||It really probably depends upon that particular gym. The only advice I can give to use is to go and ask whether they teach Judo throws at the gym or not.|||you will undoubtedly learn judo throws by another name if not judo throws.
